The National Library Of Wales is an incredible research facility and also provides an interesting free day out for visitors to the area. For those of you with a love of the glamour of the steam age, a journey on board the Vale of Rheidol Railway is an absolute must. Catch the train from Aberystwyth on a scenic trip to Devil’s Bridge. Once at Devil’s Bridge you can explore the local countryside before travelling back when you’re ready.
Now sadly in a state of ruin Aberystwyth Castle is still worth taking time out to see in order to gain an insight into the area’s past. Originally built in the late 13th century under the orders of Edward I, it lies within a public park making it a good picnic spot.
A great idea for a day out the whole family can enjoy, is to visit the Magic of Life Butterfly House. The butterfly house is home to a whole host of different butterfly species and an equally fascinating collection of tropical plants, making this a fun and educational place.
